How It Works
Most of us have stubborn bulges of fat immune to diet and exercise.
Fat Freezing targets these areas and applies controlled cooling to induce safe cell death.
Fat begins to crystalize.
Over the coming weeks, cell death (apoptosis) occurs and is flushed out of the body by the immune system.
Up to 3 months post-treatment, the fat layer is reduced. Say goodbye to fat!
What Happens to the Fat?
Apoptosis is the natural biological process used in Fat Freezing to safely destroy fat cells without scars and leaving surrounding cells intact.
Immediately after cooling, apoptosis begins and the fat cells begin to break down.
Macrophages consume the dead fat cells and they are cleared through the lymphatic system.
Dead fat cells are then flushed out through the liver and disposed of as waste.

Preparation & Aftercare
A skin consultation is required prior to treatment in order to assess suitability for Fat Freezing.
No other preparation is required before your fat loss procedure.
Drinking more water will help to flush out the dead fat cells, so we do recommend increasing your fluid intake.
Most patients experience minimal or no side effects.
The treated area can be red for 20 minutes up to about an hour.
Some patients may experience numbness in the area that resolves quickly but some instances have reported numbness for up to 3 weeks.
Due to the natural inflammatory response of the body in order to remove the dead fat cells, you may feel some sensations and experience swelling or bloating. This typically subsides within 3 weeks. Due to this natural process, we also recommend avoiding the use of anti-inflammatory medications if possible for up to 6 weeks post treatment.
No special aftercare is required, however, should you experience any side effects beyond 2 weeks we recommend seeing your GP.
Frequently Asked Questions about Fat Freezing Fat Loss Treatment
How long will it take for me to see results?
Following your fat freezing treatment, the targeted layer of fat will reduce at a gradual pace.
Some clients notice changes in as early as three weeks post-treatment, but the most dramatic changes occur after two to three months.
Your body will continue to pass the dead fat cells from the area treated for around four months after your treatment.
Does fat freezing really work?
Most sources report that cryolipolysis can reduce subcutaneous fat at the treatment site by up to 25% after one session. In a review of 19 other studies, this study found that fat measurements were reduced on average by between 15% and 27% in the abdomen, 20% in the bra area, 22% in the lumbar area, 15% to 25% in the flanks, 17% to 20% in the inner thighs, 18% in the medial knee, 20% to 29% in the hip and outer thigh area.
It’s worth noting that results vary between individuals and the same study confirmed that it can take up to 3 months for results to be visible.
How can I maximise fat loss results?
Increasing water intake can speed up your metabolism and help flush the dead fat cells out.
A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and metabolism found that drinking water (about 17oz) increases the metabolic rate by 30% in healthy men and women.
A healthy diet and exercise routine after your procedure can help prevent weight gain.
As with any permanent fat removal treatment including liposuction, IceFusion will kill and destroy fat cells from the area treated.
If more calories are consumed than you are burning off, the extra calories will be stored as fat in alternative locations in your body.
There has never been a better time to evaluate your eating habits and introduce exercise to optimise your result.
If possible, avoid the use of anti-inflammatory medications such as Ibuprofen, naproxen and Celebrex for up to 6 weeks post treatment, as it generally agreed that your results may be compromised whilst using this medication. The inflammatory response in your body is the mechanism which removes the fat cells. If you have been given anti-inflammatories to help assist a condition you have, please refer to your GP/Doctor before following this advice.
Are there any risk's associated with this treatment?
We believe that everybody has the right to make an informed decision to have any treatment, no matter how small the risk.
Since the introduction of cryo-lipolysis, there have been over 650,000 treatments performed worldwide, and until now, very few side effects have been reported. However, a rare condition called Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia has been discovered in approximately 0.0051% (1 in 20,000) of clients who have undergone this treatment – with no evidence to suggest typical risk factors, although the risk tends to be higher in males. Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia is an increase in adipose tissue with a delayed onset. This means that the client can gain more fat post-treatment.
How long does fat freezing last?
Fat freezing, also known as cryolipolysis, offers long-lasting results. Once the fat cells are frozen and eliminated, they do not return. However, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is essential to prevent the remaining fat cells from expanding. Typically, you can enjoy the benefits of fat-freezing for years, provided you follow a balanced diet and regular exercise routine.
What are the negatives of fat freezing?
While fat freezing, or cryolipolysis, is a popular non-invasive fat reduction treatment, it has some potential drawbacks. Common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, and numbness in the treated area. In rare cases, patients may experience paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, where the treated fat cells increase in size rather than decrease. Additionally, results can vary, and multiple sessions may be required to achieve desired outcomes. Booking a consult with us first is essential to determine if fat freezing is the right option for you.
Does fat freezing work on belly fat?
Fat freezing is an effective treatment for reducing belly fat. This non-invasive procedure targets and freezes fat cells in the abdominal area, which are then naturally eliminated by the body over time.
Many patients see noticeable results after one session, although multiple treatments may be necessary for optimal outcomes. It’s a popular choice for those looking to contour their midsection without surgery.
How much weight can I lose with fat freezing?
Fat freezing, also known as CoolSculpting and cryolipolysis, is not a weight loss treatment but a body contouring procedure. It targets and eliminates stubborn fat cells in specific areas, reducing about 20-25% of fat in the treated area after one session. The amount of fat loss varies from person to person and depends on factors such as the size of the treatment area and individual body composition. Multiple sessions may be required for optimal results. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including a balanced diet and regular exercise, is essential to sustain the benefits of fat freezing long term.
